Fresh new day at work with Twitter Update!

Just a couple days ago, I was ranting about how I really wished to retrieve my twitter account back because it has my username. The other day, I tried to sign up for a new username, but none suits me. The closest one to my old username is vwinata and too bad its unavailable. Besides, I just realized that you cannot use a ‘.’ (dot) in the username. Its rare nowadays that you cannot use a dot in a username. I’m tired of waiting for my ticket to be answered by the customer service, so I made a new one under ‘imvick‘. Dont forget to follow my twitters.

After exactly 11 days of holiday, I finally get back to work today. All my colleagues from overseas are amazed how we, Indonesians, have plenty of national holidays. It made me realize that we do have a lot of national holiday comparing to other countries, may be because we have 5 religions with 5 different religious days at least a year. Oh, we definitely have more than 5.

With these holidays, does it describe a little bit about our country? Let’s take a local bank for an example. In this Idul Fitri holiday, our local banks have at least 3 days holiday straight. This is quite dangerous for our economy and also for business people who do transactions with overseas companies. They have to wait till the banks are open. While other countries like the US, its already the rule that banks are not allowed to be closed more than 2 days. Even so, they are opened half day on Saturday, just so they would be able to take a break on Sunday. Amazingly, China has shown their true hardworking life. Even on Sunday, all the banks are open.

Going back to my statement where this holiday describes the typical Indonesian. How does it describe? Let’s be honest. We are (quite) lazy, don’t you think? We prefer to have plenty of holidays while other countries are working harder than ever. Perhaps, if we are not a developing countries and we are already as powerful as the US, or as stable as China, then we could give ourselves little bit of credit by having national holidays like we currently have. Sadly, we are not even near to countries like Malaysia and Thailand. They have left us behind in so many fields.

Well, there’s nothing I can do about it. Just give thanks and pray for a better future ahead of me.
