I’m Wearing My Favorite Batik Today
Today, UNESCO decides to include Batik in the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. With this in mind, UNESCO has helped Indonesia to protect cultural heritage away from culture claimers, such as Malaysia. As the result, president SBY is announcing that all Indonesians should wear Batik today in celebration of this event.
Batik is regarded as a cultural icon with its own uniqueness. It conveys certain symbols and a profound philosophy, including man’s life cycle, and it has been touted by Indonesia as a non-material element of its cultural heritage
says Aburizal Bakrie in a press conference at Bogor State Palace on Sept. 7, 2009.
I’m wearing my favorite batik today. Not just today, I usually wear batik every Friday and also couple of times on other weekdays. It’s not that I’m working in a government institution or anything, but I just love wearing batik. It really shows other people who we really are. I have quite a colletion batik in my closet. Its just today that I really take a picture of my batik to show off in my blog. I apologize that the picture does not show my face because I’m taking the photo using my laptop camera.
